be involved in the sport together. There are still several vacant positions available on our committee, view our Contacts page to see if you'd be interested in taking on one of the vacant roles.

Several coaching clinics and umpiring clinics are already being listed on the TBAWA website for the upcoming 2009/2010 season, so be quick if you're interested in being booked onto any of the available sessions.

Our players come from all areas in the Byford district including Byford, Serpentine, Jarrahdale, Mundijong, Oakford, Brookdale and Armadale.

Although all our home ground is at Briggs Park in Byford, some teams train closer to home in Jarrahdale or Serpentine. Click the adjacent image to enlarge.

Our season runs from October to mid March with a break during the summer school holidays. The length of the break varies depending on the sport being played.

We are a healthy Club who supports the health and safety of all our members.

As one of the larger sporting clubs in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, we are able to provide a number of sponsorship packages to any local business who would like to sponsor our club.  Please let us know if you would like more information. Follow the link to view our Sponsors page.

Our club is affiliated with other sporting bodies such as the Tee-ball Association of WA, Softball WA and Baseball WA.

About Us

North Murray Diamond Sports Association Inc provides local Tee-Ball competition for children aged 5-12 years. Tee-ball is a great introduction for children to team sports at a local venue (Briggs Park, Mead Street, Byford) on a Saturday morning. We have teams for players aged from 5 to 12 years of age with our Under 7 competition having modified rules and being played on a smaller diamond.

Our Club's teams are listed on the TBAWA website.

We welcome children with disabilities who would like to play Tee-ball with our club.

As well as Tee-ball, the club allows players aged 8 years and above the opportunity to play Little League or Baseball in a competition against other clubs. We also have Little League baseball teams for players aged from 8 to 12 years of age and junior Baseball for players in our Under 15 and Under 17 teams. We hope to be able to field other baseball age groups including a senior team during the 2009/10 season.

The Little League teams play on Saturday mornings at 9am whilst the junior Baseball teams play on Saturday afternoon. Both males and females are able to participate in the sport of Baseball. As all baseball games involve playing against teams from other clubs, you will need to travel for any games that aren’t being played at our home ground in Briggs Park, Byford.

North Murray Diamond Sports teams participating in a senior women’s Softball competition with the emphasis being on fun and sociability. We hope to be able to field junior female teams for the 2009/10 season. The women train locally in Byford but play at Atwell whilst any junior teams would train locally but compete in Langford. Our Club is able to cater for all family members who wish to play a diamond sport.

We also have volunteer opportunities available.

Club History

The Club has been in existence since 10/09/1980 and for many years it was one of the only sports available in the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire. At times there were seven diamonds being played on at once.

The club was originally called North Murray Tee-ball but the name was changed on 02/08/2003 to North Murray Diamond Sports.

In 1981 the club had 14 tee-ball teams. The number of tee-ball players has declined due to increased competition from other sports and the Recreation Centre activities.

The population in the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire is increasing at a rapid rate due to major development work and a subsequent housing boom. It is anticipated that the number of players in the Club will increase significantly over the next few years.

Overall player numbers have increased over the past three years. Social softball competition for females was reintroduced in the 2007/08 season.

Baseball was introduced in the 2004/05 season but folded the following season due to lack of players. It has since been reintroduced in the 2006/07 season and proving to be more successful this time round.

The home ground is at Briggs Park, Mead Street, Byford.

We are a voluntary not for profit incorporated organisation. In the Peel District, the only other Baseball, Softball and Tee-ball Clubs are based in Mandurah.

We are the only Club in the Peel District encompassing all three diamond sports.

Tee-ball

Tee-ball is a healthy action-packed team game designed to appeal to children from 5 to 12 years of age.

Tee-ball is the perfect introduction to Baseball and Softball. Children who have been taught the fundamentals of throwing, catching and fielding with Tee-ball can continue on with Baseball or Softball.

Training is held once a week with all games played on Saturday morning at Briggs Park in Byford.

Uniforms and all playing equipment are provided but players need to have their own glove, club hat and long black socks.

Players are encouraged to try out for the State Championships which are played at Langley Park in Perth over the long weekend.

Baseball

Although baseball home games are played at Briggs Park, the teams compete against other Clubs and will at times have to travel to the grounds of these other Clubs to play.

Training is held at Briggs Park.

Our Club fields baseball teams from age 8 upwards. Little League games for 8-12 yrs are played on a Saturday morning at 9am while U15 and U17 games are played on a Saturday afternoon.

Shirts and all playing equipment are provided by the Club but players need to provide their own baseball pants, belt, black socks, glove and club hat.

Little League players have the opportunity to play in a State team which is made up of elite players from within our baseball district.

Social softball

We would be happy to field junior softball teams, at our home grounds in Byford but until we can get sufficient numbers to form our own local competition, the players will need to travel to Langford to compete against other clubs.

Shirts and all playing equipment are provided for the duration of the season but players need to have their own pants, belt, socks, glove (mitt) and club hat.

Games tally

We are now keeping a record of games played for all junior players regardless of whether it’s Tee-ball, Little League or Baseball games being played. When a player moves from Tee-ball to Little League or Junior Baseball or Softball, the number of games already played will carry over to the new sport. Please refer to the club’s by-laws for details of the game milestones where trophies are awarded to players.

Also, if you have transferred from another club and can provide North Murray Diamond Sports with evidence of the number of games played for the previous club, we will transfer this to the player’s game tally as well.
