modified rules and being played on a smaller diamond. Our Club's teams are listed on the TBAWA website. We welcome children with disabilities who would like to play Tee-ball with our club. As well as Tee-ball, the club allows players aged 8 years and
above the opportunity to play Little League or Baseball in a
competition against other clubs. We also have Little League baseball
teams for players aged from 8 to 12 years of age and junior Baseball
for players in our Under 15 and Under 17 teams. We hope to be able to
field other baseball age groups including a senior team during the
2009/10 season. The Little League teams play on Saturday mornings at 9am
whilst the junior Baseball teams play on Saturday afternoon. Both males

Club HistoryThe Club has been in existence since 10/09/1980 and for many years it was one of the only sports available in the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire. At times there were seven diamonds being played on at once. The club was originally called North Murray Tee-ball but the name was changed on 02/08/2003 to North Murray Diamond Sports. In 1981 the club had 14 tee-ball teams. The number of tee-ball players has declined due to increased competition from other sports and the Recreation Centre activities. The population in the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire is increasing at a rapid rate due to major development work and a subsequent housing boom. It is anticipated that the number of players in the Club will increase significantly over the next few years. Overall player numbers have increased over the past three years. Social softball competition for females was reintroduced in the 2007/08 season. Baseball was introduced in the 2004/05 season but folded the following season due to lack of players. It has since been reintroduced in the 2006/07 season and proving to be more successful this time round. The home ground is at Briggs Park, Mead Street, Byford. We are a voluntary not for profit incorporated organisation. In the Peel District, the only other Baseball, Softball and Tee-ball Clubs are based in Mandurah. We are the only Club in the Peel District encompassing all
three
diamond sports.
Tee-ballTee-ball is a healthy action-packed team game designed to appeal to children from 5 to 12 years of age. Tee-ball is the perfect introduction to Baseball and Softball. Children who have been taught the fundamentals of throwing, catching and fielding with Tee-ball can continue on with Baseball or Softball. Training is held once a week with all games played on Saturday morning at Briggs Park in Byford. Uniforms and all playing equipment are provided but players need to have their own glove, club hat and long black socks. Players are encouraged to try out for the State Championships which are played at Langley Park in Perth over the long weekend.BaseballAlthough baseball home games are played at Briggs Park, the teams compete against other Clubs and will at times have to travel to the grounds of these other Clubs to play. Training is held at Briggs Park. Our Club fields baseball teams from age 8 upwards. Little League games for 8-12 yrs are played on a Saturday morning at 9am while U15 and U17 games are played on a Saturday afternoon. Shirts and all playing equipment are provided by the Club but players need to provide their own baseball pants, belt, black socks, glove and club hat. Little League players have the opportunity to play in a State
team
which is made up of elite players from within our baseball district. Social softballWe would be happy to field junior softball teams, at our home grounds in Byford but until we can get sufficient numbers to form our own local competition, the players will need to travel to Langford to compete against other clubs. Shirts and all playing equipment are provided for the duration of the season but players need to have their own pants, belt, socks, glove (mitt) and club hat.
Games tallyWe are now keeping a record of games played for all junior players regardless of whether it’s Tee-ball, Little League or Baseball games being played. When a player moves from Tee-ball to Little League or Junior Baseball or Softball, the number of games already played will carry over to the new sport. Please refer to the club’s by-laws for details of the game milestones where trophies are awarded to players. Also, if you have transferred from another club and can provide North Murray Diamond Sports with evidence of the number of games played for the previous club, we will transfer this to the player’s game tally as well. |
